Prof. John Francis Mugisha was among the 24 outstanding Alumni of Uganda Martyrs University (UMU), Nkozi who were recognized and awarded in the University’s Inaugural Alumni Awards.
The Award Ceremony took place on Saturday, 26th February 2022 at Pope Paul IV Memorial Hotel, Lubaga. Prof. Mugisha was recognized for his excellent and exemplary achievements in the field of Research & Higher Education.
Notably among the 24 awardees was Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda who was recognized for her excellent service. Over 30,000 alumni of the catholic founded university have excelled in several fields and have impacted social development both locally and globally.
Mr. Ambrose Kibuka Mukiibi, the President, Uganda Martyrs University Alumni Association (UMUAA) which jointly organized the Awards together with the university administration remarked that the purpose of the awards was to appreciate the excelling alumni out there and to also show society that the university that set out to serve the church and society is indeed on its mark, 28 years down the road.
The Vice-Chancellor of Uganda Martyrs University, Prof. Patrick Kyamanywa highlighted that “The market has actually recognized our graduates ahead of us and we felt it necessary to respond as their Alma Mater by carving out a special day to recognize those who are excelling in different walks of life.”
Prof. John Mugisha was accompanied by his wife, Ms. Khellen Musiime the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Cavendish University, Dr. Olive Sabiiti, the Sales and Marketing Director, Mr. Fredrick Mufta, the University Librarian, Ms. Alice Aakiteng, the Guild President, Mr. Blessed Atwine, and other friends who witnessed and celebrated with him on receiving this special honor.
