The Executive Director of Cavendish University Uganda, Mr David Mutabanura joined leaders of Higher Education Institutions from East Africa for the East African Regional Hub In-Person Meeting of the Education Collaborative, which took place in Nairobi from April 20-21, 2022.
The meeting which took place at Nairobi Serena Hotel and Strathmore University presented an opportunity for members of the East African Regional Hub to be introduced to the new East Africa Hub Director, Ms. Lizzie Chongoti, to develop the strategy and focal areas for the East African Hub and to prepare for the Annual and Regional Convenings to be held later this year.
The Meeting was attended by University leaders from over 10 higher education institutions enrolled into the East African (EA) Hub including Rongo University (Kenya); Cavendish University (Uganda); Strathmore University (Kenya); Riara University (Kenya); University of Embu (Kenya); USIU Africa (Kenya); Davis College (Rwanda); Kepler University (Rwanda) and Ashesi University (Ghana).
During the meeting, the leaders discussed priorities for the EA Hub, regional engagement initiatives, identifying pivotal partnerships, and sharing experiences around student employability and entrepreneurial outcomes. The East African University leaders also had a chance to visit Riara University and Strathmore University and to experience, share and learn about best practices in student-centred teaching and learning that promotes student employability, entrepreneurship and ethical leadership.
The Education Collaborative is an Ashesi University-led consortium of African higher education institutions aimed at transforming systems to improve regulatory, institutional and student outcomes of higher education in Africa. The Collaborative endeavours to forge a strong working relationship among various stakeholders involved with Higher Education in Africa.
Cavendish University Uganda has been an active participant of the Education Collaborative Initiative since May 2021.
