Coding Girls, an International movement aims to inspire and empower girls into programming and coding. It is funded by Fenix International whose objective is to inspire the girl child to harness Technology and develop Tech-related careers.

Coding Girls has established itself as a Global award winning platform dedicated to closing the Gender gap in Technology. It is upon this background that Coding Girls decided to extend its reach to Kampala, with Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) as its host on Wednesday 28th August, 2019.

During the event, attendants were greatly inspired by powerful insights from various Guest Speakers who were all young women and well-grounded in the Tech Industry. Among the day’s prominent speakers were; the Founder of Coding in Heels, Ms. Angela Semwogerere, the Community Manager for Software Development-Andela, Ms. Maria Kyamulabye, Data Specialist, Fenix International, Ms. Joreen Arigye, and the Software Manager for Solar Panels and energy Systems, Ms. Kalungi.

They all focused their delivery on empowering girls to get started in coding and programming in order to shift the paradigm and create a gender balance in technology, leadership and entrepreneurship.

Coding Girls is seeking to expand its collaboration with CUU in order to recruit more girls and women through the Coding Girls Ambassador Kampala, Nakaweesi Jogia who is also a 3rd Year student pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science Degree at Cavendish University Uganda.
