Cavendish University’s Beatrice Kamakume Voted Deputy Speaker of UNSA



The Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA) 2019/2020 Elections for office bearers were conducted from 20th – 24th December, 2019 at St. Mary’s College Kisubi, Wakiso District. Out of the 52 contenders for the respective posts, Beatrice Kamakume, a 3rd Year student at Cavendish University Uganda, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies was voted the Deputy Speaker.

Established in 1988, UNSA is an umbrella organisation of all students in Secondary schools, Post-secondary, Institutions of higher learning and Universities in Uganda. It serves as a platform to represent students’ views and opinions and supports students to achieve academic excellence, works with school authorities to promote peace and good governance through participatory democracy. The patron of the Association is H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda.

Since Beatrice Kamakune joined Cavendish University Uganda, she has depicted leadership skills right from being a class coordinator in her first year, to serving in the Guild Leadership as the Minister of Foreign Affairs 2018/2019. Beatrice also founded the CUU Debate Society in 2018 which is the reigning champion of the 5th National Inter-University Debate Championship and is a member of the Debate Society Uganda (DSU).

CUU management, staff and students wish Beatrice the best of luck in her new post as we know she will ably represent the student voice.
