Cavendish University Uganda triumphs in the 4th East African Universities Debate Championship 2019



A team of Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) students doubling as members of the Debate Society Uganda (DSU) represented CUU at the East African Universities Debate Championship in Nairobi, Kenya, that took place from 19th – 25th August, 2019.

East Africa Universities Debating Championship (EAUDC) is a regional competition for Inter-University debates. The Championship was initiated in 2016 by Aspire Debate Rwanda and takes place each year in a different country with in the East African Community. The debates are hosted by a University under the guidance of EAUDC. Among the previous hosts are; University of Rwanda (Rwanda) in 2016 & 2017, Kyambogo University (Uganda) in 2018 and recently Cooperative University Karen, Nairobi (Kenya) in 2019.

Uganda was this year represented by 8 Universities namely; Cavendish University Uganda, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Gulu University, Kampala International University, YMCA, Uganda Christian University and Bishop Stuart University.

Cavendish University Uganda emerged winner in the Public speaking category having been ably represented by our student, Collins Bulakyalo – we congratulate him on this great achievement. The 2020 EAUDC competitions will take place in Arusha, Tanzania and the finals at the East African Parliament.
