Cavendish University Student Produces Popular ‘Sanyu’ Television Show



Usama Mukwaya, a student at Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) has produced yet another popular Television Show dubbed “Sanyu”.

He previously produced a popular Pan-African TV series “Kyaddala” in 2019 that was widely watched on NBS TV, one of Uganda’s most prominent Television.

Usama is pursuing a Diploma in Business Administration under the Distance Learning Programme at CUU. He is a Ugandan film director, screenwriter, producer, actor and television host. He made his debut in the film career in 2010 with a short film ‘Hello’ that won overall best film at the Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Centre (MNFPAC) Students’ Awards.

The show premiered on 8th February, 2021 on Pearl Magic Prime, a new channel (148) on DSTV created to showcase premium, best of the best content from Uganda. The channel is set to provide Ugandan DSTV viewers with thought-provoking and entertaining content which captures Ugandan cultural nuances.

“Sanyu” tells the story of an innocent, rural teenage girl that is forced to leave her family and her pursuit for education to do a maid’s job for a complex, wealthy urban family. It is here where she falls for the young son of her employer.

Witness the journey of love, emotion and drama between the privileged and underprivileged. Some of the cast members of Sanyu include; Tracy Kababiito, Timothy Lwanga, Farida Nabagereka, Blessing Naturinda, Kyeyune Shalom, Kuddzu Isaac, Allan Katongole, Marion Asilo Dorothy, Abbey Mukiibi Nkaaga, Housen Mushema, Eleonor Nabwiso, Sharon Nalukenge and Racheal Nduhukire.
