Cavendish University Staff contribute towards Student Welfare during Covid 19

Saturday the 20th of June, 2020, marked yet another milestone on our student-centric journey for 2020. In response to the Student Guild’s concern over the plight of some of our students (especially our International student community) due to COVID19 challenges, the CUU staff family at an individual level and at such a time when economies are down and survival is largely narrow, joined hands and contributed towards students’ welfare.

This noble initiative, the first of its kind at CUU, was spearheaded by the Deputy Dean of Students Mr. Medard Nabaasa and the project was flagged off by the Vice Chancellor Prof John Mugisha.

A total of 81 students received various packages of items, including but not limited to; eggs, soap, rice, matooke clusters, sugar and Irish potatoes. The Student Guild led by Mr. Ja’afar Mohammad the Vice President was very appreciative of the staff endeavour and requested this staff-student partnership to be harnessed and cherished beyond this Covid19 Pandemic time.

The second issue is under mobilisation and those who may not have been reached today shall, as soon as possible, be attended to, in the next welfare assistance distribution. Mobilisation for the welfare basket from staff and Management shall continue for as long as we are under these severe COVID19 conditions.

We highly implore those uniquely challenged to use their National Association Heads and Guild Officials for coordination and effective management.
