Cavendish University Law Student elected President, Uganda Law Society



Cavendish University Uganda congratulates our Master of Laws’ student, Pheona Nabasa Wall who was elected as the new President of the Uganda Law Society (2020/2021). During the highly contested elections which were held yesterday, 12th September 2020, Wall garnered 441 votes which were 14 votes more than the Runner Up, Bernard Oundo.

Prior to this new role, Pheona has served as the Vice President, Uganda Law Society (ULS). She is currently serving as the Senior Manager Legal Services for the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, a position she has held since June, 2014, and the Chairperson of the Legal Aid project in Kampala, Uganda.

Ms. Wall is a corporate and commercial lawyer with extensive experience in legal risk management, regulatory compliance, projects, infrastructure and construction law, board affairs and stakeholder relations management. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Makerere University, a Diploma in Legal Practice and an MBA in Management.

Pheona is currently pursuing a Master of Laws Degree at Cavendish University Uganda. She won the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) “2018 Talent to Watch” award and is a New Vision 40 under 40 finalist for 2018.

Other contenders in the elections included; Nelson Walusimbi with 239 votes, Rashid Semambo with 212 and Anne Karungi with 47.

Pheona Wall will take after Mr. Simon Peter Kinobe who has held the office for the last two years. She stands for a fraternity that is member-focused and adds value to the lives of advocates.
