Lady Justice Prof. Lillian Tibatemwa-Ekirikubinza of Uganda who is also a member of Cavendish University Uganda’s Advisory Council has joined the Court of Appeal of Seychelles, the apex court of the Judiciary hierarchy in the country.

This great achievement is one of many, following her appointment as a Supreme Court judge in 2015, election to the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) for a five-year term, together with seven judges from across the globe, graduating as the first African woman with a PhD in law from the University of Copenhagen, among others.

Justice Tibatemwa was appointed to her new role by Seychelles’ President Danny Faure following recommendations made by the Constitutional Appointments Authority pursuant with Article 123 of the Constitution of the island nation. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the State House.

She acknowledged that her contribution to Seychelles is ingrained in the experience she has already attained in Uganda’s courts of law.
