Mr. Michael Okopa



Academic Registrar Mr. Michael Okopa holds a Master of Science in Data Communication and Software Engineering, Postgraduate Diploma in Data Communication and Software Engineering, and Bachelor of Science Majoring in Mathematics and Chemistry, all obtained from Makerere University, and Postgraduate Diploma in Education. As a scholar, Mr. Michael Okopa has published more than 12 papers in International Refereed Journals. Mr. Okopa served as the Quality Assurance Director of Cavendish University Uganda for 3 years from 2018-2021 in which role he ensured the maintenance of quality and standards in areas of teaching and learning, assessment, research, community engagement and administrative procedures through the provision of direction in the implementation of quality enhancement and related processes across the University. Prior to joining Cavendish University Uganda, Mr. Michael Okopa was the Quality Assurance Director of International University of East Africa (IUEA) for 3 years, where he also worked in the capacity of Acting Academic Registrar and also lectured in the Department of Computer Science. He has been involved in a number of initiatives that encourage more female students to take Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Before joining IUEA, Mr. Michael Okopa taught Chemistry and Mathematics at High School for 14 years where he also headed the department of Mathematics and Chemistry. While teaching at High School he also set and examined for the Uganda National Examinations Board. He believes in the famous quote by Aristotle that, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
