Prof. Omolade Olomola



Dean, Faculty of Law Prof. Omolade Olunike OLOMOLA obtained LL.B (Hons) from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999. She holds an LL. M (Master of Laws) and Ph.D. (Law) also from the University of Ibadan. At the Doctoral level, she took particular interest in Human Rights and Reproductive Health Rights of Women in Polygynous relationships. She has several professional certificates in Social Science Research Methodology and Capacity Building; International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and a Certificate of Participation in Ethics Training amongst others. She is an alumnus of Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) Lagos. Prof Olomola is a senior law lecturer, legal clinician and researcher of more than 20 years post qualification experience in the areas of Family Law and social justice, Clinical Legal Education (CLE), Reproductive health rights Law, Gender Equality and Gender Equity, Legal and Security Issues in Disaster Management, International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights and Forced Migration and Refugee Law. She has peer reviewed publications in these areas. Her edited textbook on Family Law and Succession was published in 2021. Her current research efforts are on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), Gender-based Violence and Mental Health Law. She is involved with Ethics training in HCT (HIV/AIDS Counselling and Training) of Peer investigators, and the Intensive Combination Approach to Roll-back the Epidemic in Nigerian Adolescents (iCARE, Nigeria) Team. The research project is funded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Health and Human Development with Collaborating Institutions of North-western University, Chicago and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. As a seasoned researcher, Professor Olomola earned a MacArthur Foundation funding grant Award which she utilized at the University of Toronto (International Reproductive and Sexual Health Rights Programme), Canada. Prof Omolade Olomola was announced as one of the winners of Nigeria Outstanding Lecturer of the Year Award by the Board of Southwest Nigeria Excellence Awards (SNEAWARDS) – the largest Award Body in Nigeria at the Second Edition in 2022. She is a member of several academic and professional bodies. She has supervised several undergraduates; postgraduate students’ dissertations and theses including doctoral research works in her areas of expertise. She also serves as external examiner to a number of Universities and Institutions. She was Acting Dean of Law in Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Nigeria during her sabbatical leave between 2017-2019.
