Cavendish University Uganda Participates in 2022 London Marathon

CUU congratulates our own Anthony Bonnett, the Director Real Estate and Facilities Management at Maarifa Education (our funders), who represented Cavendish University Uganda in the 42nd Edition of the Annual London Marathon which took place on October 02 2022.

Anthony was among thousands of elites and enthusiasts who participated in the marathon dubbed “Great Britain’s biggest road race” and was part of “Save The Rhino” charity whose cause was to help protect endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia.  Since 1992, Save the Rhino has had a team in the London Marathon every year, and it is one of the biggest charity teams.

The London Marathon is the world’s biggest annual fundraising event, with more than 40,000 people taking part each year. Runners can join the 26.2 miles race from anywhere and can even participate virtually. More than 350,000 people entered the ballot to take part in this year’s race.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was postponed from April until October to maximise the chances of a mass participation event. Every race since 1981 has been televised on the BBC, and in June 2022, it won the rights to broadcast the race until 2026.

The race saw participants run from Greenwich Park, through the heart of London and finished on The Mall.
