Cavendish University Journalism Students Scoop 3 at the 2022 National Inter-University Media Challenge Awards



This Year’s Inter-University Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) awards ceremony was held on 15th December 2022 at the Media Challenge Initiative Hub in Kabalagala. Three CUU Journalism students excelled in the competition and were awarded for their precision and mastery of skill displayed in the different elements of the challenge.

CUU Winners included; Sserunjogi Moses who bagged 2 awards namely: Best photography Award & Best English Community Reporter, and Musiime Ronald who won the Best Radio Presenter Award.

The Inter-University Media Challenge awards are organised by the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) as a means of honouring the best of student journalism. During the competition, journalism students are trained to become the next generation journalists by equipping them with the knowledge and tools for solution-based reporting.

Teams that qualified for the finals included; Cavendish University Uganda (CUU), Makerere University, Kampala International University , and Makerere Business Institute, out of the 12 teams that participated in this year’s competition.

All the participating students in this year’s competition have an open chance to apply for a six-month fellowship of intensive multimedia training, out of which only 26 successful candidates will be considered. Individuals who won awards have a 50 per cent chance of making it to the fellowship.
