CUU Graduates of 2021 were colourfully celebrated on 26th August 2021 at Cavendish University Uganda’s 10th Graduation which was held at the Commonwealth, Speke Resort, Munyonyo to mark the climax of their studies at different levels.

The Virtual and Scientific (Blended) Graduation ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr Goodluck Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who was installed as the 3rd Chancellor on the same day, in time to preside over the conferment of Degrees and award of Diplomas and Certificates. 620 students graduated from the Faculties of Law, Socio-Economic Sciences, Science and Technology and the School of Postgraduate Studies.

The theme for the day, "Technology-enabled Learning, Innovation and Growth," was illustrated in various forms by the Guest of Honour, Hon. Dr John C. Muyingo, the Minister of State for Higher Education; the Commencement Speaker, Dr. Ham-Mukasa Mulira, former Minister of ICT, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. John F. Mugisha and the Chairman, University Council, Prof. Olubayi Olubayi who doubles as the Chief Academic Officer of Maarifa Education Holdings.

H.E. Dr Goodluck Jonathan who replaces the late H.E. Benjamin Mkapa (former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, 2nd Chancellor) acknowledged that the position of a Chancellor was new to him and expressed his delight to have been honoured with this special position.

In his speech, His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan urged universities to equip students with comparative socio-economic analytical tools to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the solutions of problems that afflict their communities locally, nationally and internationally.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. John F Mugisha encouraged graduates to transform themselves into generational thinkers so that they can solve problems for the future instead of the present.

Prominent guests in attendance included; Bishop Dr Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, the Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University who installed the Chancellor, Hon. Justice Mike Chibita, Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda who administered the oaths, Ms. Pheona Wall, the President of the Uganda Law Society and Master of Laws student at CUU who presented the Chancellor’s profile and special dignitaries from Nigeria who accompanied His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan to bear witness of his Investiture, among other invited guests.

For their part, the Class of 2021 excitedly followed the event virtually from different parts of the world.
