Mr. Opio Gregory



Opio Gregory is a Ugandan academic and a governance expert in security, peace and legitimacy in fragile and violent conflict-affected contexts. He is currently lecturing Political Science, Diplomacy and International Relations at Cavendish University Uganda with research interests focusing on understanding Uganda’s politics, foreign and diplomatic relations and complex geostrategic issues affecting the fragile and violent conflict-affected contexts of Africa’s Great Lakes Region and the Horn. His work focuses on university teaching, political analysis and research in security governance, strategic intelligence, defense and geopolitics. Before joining Cavendish in 2021, Gregory taught Political Science, Diplomacy and International Relations at Kyambogo, Victoria and St. Lawrence Universities all in Uganda. He is a recipient of Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) In-Country scholarship for master’s studies at Makerere University and Vlaamse Interuniversitaire Raad/Flemish Inter-University Council (VLIR-UOS) Grant. He studied Political Science for Bachelor’s at Kyambogo University and professional training at ISS in Addis Ababa.
