Kepler College Team Visits Cavendish University Uganda to Strengthen Collaboration



From March 5th to 7th, 2025, Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) hosted a delegation from Kepler College in Rwanda, as part of a collaborative effort under the East African Hub of the Education Collaborative. The visit aimed to foster mutual learning and explore strategies for enhancing pedagogy, administration, research, and publication across both institutions.

The Kepler College team, comprising Jean Pierre Mutambarungu (DVC for Academic and Research Affairs), Aloys Baziga (DVC for Finance and Administration), Celestin Nkeramihigo (Dean of Faculty), and Jean Paul Mbabazi (Academic Registrar), engaged in fruitful discussions with CUU’s senior management and department heads. Key topics included CUU’s advancements in online learning environments, marketing strategies, financial sustainability, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

Key Areas of Focus

During the visit, the delegation explored several critical areas:

  • Academic Operations: Insights into CUU’s teaching processes and utilization of Riipen in distance and open learning.
  • People Management: Strategies for attracting and retaining top talent while maintaining staff morale.
  • Infrastructure Management: Observations on classroom sizes, IT capabilities, and operations.
  • Applicant Attraction: Approaches to recruiting international students.
  • AI in Academia: Discussions on regulations and applications of AI in higher education.

Strengthening Regional Collaboration

The visit underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to promoting quality education and sustainable practices. CUU’s achievements in expanding its online learning environment and ensuring financial sustainability impressed the delegation, fostering a collaborative spirit that will shape the future of higher education in East Africa. Both institutions look forward to continued partnerships that drive innovation and excellence in higher education.
