From Classroom to Continental Recognition: Cavendish University Uganda Alumnus Armand Mabwire Wins Prestigious Innovation Award

Every groundbreaking innovation begins with a bold idea. For Armand “Callanz” Mabwire, that idea was nurtured at Cavendish University Uganda and has since grown into a technology enterprise that is transforming businesses, strengthening public service delivery, and empowering entrepreneurs across Africa.

Today, Cavendish proudly celebrates one of its distinguished alumni following his recognition with the Innovation & Technology for Development Award at the SMEGAfrica Excellence Awards 2026. The award honours innovators whose solutions are driving sustainable development and accelerating digital transformation across the continent. It will be presented during the 2nd Annual International Scholar Media Africa Conference and SMEGAfrica Excellence Awards, scheduled for 5–7 August 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Long before he became the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Associated Inventive Minds (AIM) Consortium, Armand was a student with bold ideas and an unwavering belief that technology could be used to solve real-world challenges. At Cavendish University Uganda, he found more than an academic qualification. He found an environment that encouraged curiosity, innovation, leadership, and practical learning—an environment where ideas were not confined to the classroom but were challenged, refined, and brought to life.

Determined to create opportunities beyond the classroom, he founded PythonHub Cavendish University Uganda, a student-led innovation community that equipped learners with practical skills in software engineering, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation. More than a coding community, PythonHub became a platform where ideas flourished, collaborations were forged, and aspiring innovators were empowered to build solutions with real societal impact. Through mentorship and peer learning, Armand inspired fellow students to become creators of technology rather than simply consumers of it.

The lessons, experiences, and entrepreneurial mindset cultivated during his time at CUU became the foundation upon which Armand built his career. After graduation, he co-founded Associated Inventive Minds (AIM) Consortium, a technology enterprise dedicated to developing practical digital solutions that respond to the everyday needs of businesses, public institutions, and communities.

Today, AIM Consortium is making a tangible impact through innovations such as AIMduka, a digital business management platform that is helping small and medium-sized enterprises streamline operations, strengthen financial management, and make informed business decisions. Through AIMhosting, businesses and organisations can access affordable web hosting and website development services, while AIMticketing is simplifying event management with secure and efficient digital ticketing solutions. Together, these innovations reflect Armand’s vision of using technology to solve practical challenges while contributing to Africa’s growing digital economy.

Armand’s recognition is not only a celebration of personal excellence but also a reflection of what is possible when talent is nurtured in an institution that believes in innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning.
