Dr. Daniel Walyemera



 

Dr. Daniel Walyemera is an Advocate, Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public of the High Court of Uganda. He is also one of the two Ugandan Lawyers on the list of Counsel of the African Court on Human and Peoples Rights, where he occasionally practices law. He has been commissioned severally to do consultancy work by many organisations, including the United Nations. He has been teaching and practicing law for over 21 years and published numerous media and academic journal articles.

For over 14 years, Dr. Walyemera was engaged in the political world as Secretary General of the Conservative Party, Pioneer Chairperson of the Council of Secretaries General of the Interparty Organization for Dialogue (IPOD); Vice Chairman, Legal & Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Consultative Forum for Political Parties & Organizations. Daniel is also an electoral reform scholar having participated in several electoral reform activities. These electoral activities include elections observer engagements and electoral reform consultancies with the United Nations.

Dr. Daniel Walyemera has attended several advanced short law courses within and out of Uganda. He holds a Doctor of Laws- Criminal Justice from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa, a Master of Laws (LLM) from Makerere University, Uganda, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PGDLP) from the Law Development Centre, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Islamic University in Uganda and a Diploma in Law from the Law Development Centre, Uganda. Daniel was a Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of International and Comparative Law in Africa (ICLA), University of Pretoria, South Africa.
