Cavendish University Uganda Launches Academic Journals



During the 11th Graduation ceremony, Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) launched its maiden Academic Journals in the fields of Law and Social Sciences and Management.

The Cavendish University Law Journal (CULJ) was launched by Mr. Frank Nigel Othembi, the Executive Director of the Law Development Centre (LDC) in Uganda. In his remarks, Mr. Othembi noted that the Journal is a vital addition to scholarship in legal education.

“Law Journals present innovative ideas to aid compliance with new statutory and regulatory demands and to avoid liability. They also provide insightful commentary on relevant court opinions, among other benefits,” the LDC Executive Director highlighted.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law and Editor in Chief of the Journal, Prof. Olomola Omolade remarked that the publication of this journal is a giant leap coupled with a propelling vision to properly situate the ever-growing Faculty of Law among its contemporaries.

The articles published in this first edition cover diverse, innovative and interesting areas of the law which, include but are not limited to, International Humanitarian Law (IHL), Human Rights, Intellectual Property, Environmental Law, Arbitration, Medical Law, Commercial Law and Artificial Reproductive Technology.

The Cavendish Journal of Social Sciences and Management (CJSSM) was launched by Prof. Noah Midamba, a renowned Professor of Defence and Foreign Policy, who was also the Commencement Speaker at the 11th Graduation ceremony of the University.

Prof. Midamba stated that “the Journal would not only cause the dissemination of knowledge across the world but also foster collaborative research, nurture creativity, innovation, and forward-looking practices.”

The Editor in Chief who is also the Director of the School of Postgraduate Studies at CUU, Prof. Alex Thomas Ijjo voiced that this journal allows Cavendish University Uganda an intellectual platform from which to provide high-quality research encompassing all the subjects of social sciences, public health, economics and management.

The launch of these two journals signifies the continuing fulfilment of the mandate of Cavendish University Uganda by providing qualitative education in line with International Best Practices.
