Cavendish University Uganda Joins the Fight Against Women’s Cancer

On 25th October 2025, the city of Jinja was transformed into a sea of pink as over 1,000 participants, including representatives from Cavendish University Uganda (CUU), took part in the 7th Fight Women’s Cancer Run organised by Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja (RHHJ). The event united individuals and organisations in a shared mission to raise awareness and mobilise support for the prevention, early detection, and management of women’s cancers.

Cavendish University Uganda was privileged to sponsor and actively participate in this important initiative. A delegation comprising staff and students joined the run, reflecting the University’s continued commitment to community engagement, public health advocacy, and women’s empowerment. Their participation reaffirmed Cavendish’s belief that education extends beyond academic learning to fostering social responsibility and transformative community impact.

Held under the theme “Fight Women’s Cancer Because Every Woman Matters,” the event served as an inspiring reminder of the need to intensify efforts to eliminate cervical cancer and improve breast cancer control, particularly in the Busoga region and across Uganda. The collective energy, solidarity, and optimism that filled the streets of Jinja echoed the shared determination to ensure that no woman is left behind in the fight against cancer.

Cavendish University Uganda remains unwavering in its commitment to advancing causes that promote health, dignity, and social transformation. Through partnerships such as this, the University continues to demonstrate that education is not only about intellectual growth but also about creating meaningful impact within communities. By standing alongside organisations like Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja whose compassionate palliative care and cancer prevention efforts are transforming lives in Busoga Region, Cavendish reaffirms its dedication to empowering individuals and building a healthier, more equitable future for all.

Together, we ran, we learnt, and we acted because every woman truly matters.
