The recently concluded International Association of Universities (IAU) 2025 International Conference, held from 21st to 23rd October 2025 at the University of Rwanda in Kigali, marked a significant milestone for Cavendish University Uganda.
The event saw the Vice Chancellor, Dr Olive Sabiiti, and the Executive Director, Mr David Mutabanura, graduate as distinguished members of the 2024-2025 cohort of the highly acclaimed Executive Leadership Programme (ELP) of the International Association of Universities. This year-long programme equips senior university executives with strategic insights and innovative leadership skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of global higher education.
Immediately following the conference on 24th October, the ELP 2024-2025 cohort presented their capstone projects, demonstrating the transformational learning journey and collaborative exchange experienced throughout the year. Dr Sabiiti reflected on the experience, stating, “The week culminated in my graduation from the Executive Leadership Programme of the IAU — a transformational year shared with peers from across the world including Sweden, Papua New Guinea, The Gambia, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Canada, Kenya, Ghana, Poland, and Rwanda. The journey from Tokyo 2024 to Kigali 2025 was wonderful, filled with valuable learning and exchange.”

In a parallel achievement, two other members of the Cavendish University leadership — the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olutayo Osunsan and the Innovations Manager, Mr Edison Kagona — were officially enroled into the Executive Leadership Programme’s 2025 – 2026 cohort. Their participation signals the university’s continuous investment in transformative leadership and a forward-looking approach to innovation and academic collaboration.
The IAU 2025 International Conference, themed “Building Trust in Higher Education,” offered an invaluable platform for over 200 leaders from around the globe to engage, share knowledge, and shape the future of higher education collaboration. The programme’s long-standing commitment to fostering global cooperation in higher education spans over 75 years.
Cavendish University Uganda congratulates its leadership team on their dedication and achievements and eagerly anticipates the continued impact they will have on advancing academic excellence and innovation within the university and beyond.
