The Ugandan Universities Quality Assurance Forum (UUQAF) successfully convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 24th, 2026 hosted by Cavendish University Uganda bringing together quality assurance practitioners from higher education institutions across Uganda for a day of strategic engagement, professional development, and collaboration.
As a key platform for advancing quality assurance in higher education, UUQAF continues to play a vital role in strengthening institutional capacity and promoting best practices across the sector. The Forum’s activities are conducted throughout the year and are hosted on a rotational basis among member institutions, with select engagements held in designated venues across Uganda.
The AGM was preceded by a series of focused training sessions aimed at enhancing the competencies of quality assurance professionals in an increasingly dynamic academic environment. Participants engaged in critical discussions on “The Quality Assurance Practitioner of the 21st Century: Cultivating a Dynamic Mindset”, emphasising adaptability, innovation, and forward-thinking approaches to quality assurance practice. The meeting culminated in the Annual General Meeting, during which members reviewed the Forum’s progress and strategic priorities. A key highlight of the AGM was the election of a new set of executive leaders who will guide the Forum’s agenda in the forthcoming term.
The Forum provided a platform for dialogue on regional and continental quality assurance initiatives. Members explored application processes and participation opportunities in programmes such as the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) Staff Exchange Programme and the HAQAA Initiative (HAQAA) project. These initiatives were highlighted as instrumental in fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the harmonisation of quality assurance frameworks across Africa.
