
Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) celebrated the Class of 2025 under the theme “Empowering Futures: Cultivating Leaders for a Global Tomorrow.” The ceremony held on 21st August 2025 at the Speke Resort Convention Centre, Munyonyo marked the culmination of years of dedication, learning, and transformation for over 990 graduates across a wide range of academic programmes.
Presiding over the ceremony was the Chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda, H.E. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In his keynote address, H.E. Jonathan congratulated the graduates on their achievement and challenged them to become leaders defined by resilience, responsibility, relevance, and relentless service in an increasingly complex global landscape. He emphasized the role of education in shaping ethical leadership and sustainable development across Africa and beyond.

The ceremony was further enriched by inspiring messages from distinguished guests. The Guest of Honour, Mr Bernard Paul Mono, representing the East African Development Bank (EADB), urged graduates to remain competitive by aligning themselves with global best practices particularly, in the adoption and application of technology and innovation to drive economic and social progress.
Adding to this call for principled leadership, Dr Vincent Ogutu, Vice Chancellor of Strathmore University, Kenya, highlighted the enduring importance of values, integrity, and character as foundational pillars of effective leadership in both professional and public life.
In her address, CUU Vice Chancellor Dr Olive Sabiiti reaffirmed the University’s commitment to producing future-ready graduates equipped for a rapidly evolving world. She highlighted CUU’s strategic focus on AI-driven skills, competency-based education, and purposeful learning aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting that these priorities are central to preparing graduates for meaningful impact locally and globally.
Academic excellence was also celebrated during the ceremony. Mr Robert Duku, a Bachelor of Information Technology graduate, emerged as the Overall Best Student, graduating with an outstanding GPA of 4.8, a testament to discipline, consistency, and academic rigour. In addition, the University recognised its growing community of scholarship beneficiaries, which now stands at over 300 students supported since the programme’s inception, reflecting CUU’s commitment to access, inclusion, and educational equity.
The 14th Graduation Ceremony not only celebrated individual achievement but also reaffirmed Cavendish University Uganda’s mission to nurture competent, ethical, and globally minded leaders. As the graduates step into the next chapter of their journeys, CUU remains proud to have played a formative role in empowering futures and shaping leaders for a global tomorrow.
